What can I say that hasn’t already been said. Like many of you I have cried. I am disgusted. I listen to the words of black friends and it is so clear. The pain that they are experiencing surpasses what I could even imagine. Enough is enough right? Silence is injustice and it’s time that all of us support our brothers and sisters of the black community. There are many powerful organizations we can get behind and these are some that I am supporting.
“Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph.” — Haile Selassie
Black Lives Matter is a movement working towards the freedom and justice for Black people and, by extension, all people. It is a stand against racism and violence against black people. This movement is about a desire to live a life of equal opportunity including the support of women’s rights and the LGBTQ community. Ultimately this movement is about healing and I am grateful to show my support. You can donate HERE.
We have the right to peaceful protest. During the present protesting in memory of George Floyd and others, many peaceful protestors have been unfairly arrested. The Bail Project provides bail assistance for these protestors by sending bail directly to the courts. They provide bail to individuals who are legally presume innocent so that they can return home to their families while awaiting trial. This is an incredible gift to so many and I cannot praise this project enough! You can donate HERE.
The Equal Justice Initiative commits to ending racial injustice, mass incarceration and protecting basic human rights. It was founded in 1989 by Attorney Bryan Stevenson. Their staff is dedicated to educating the community and providing resources to anyone who is in need. I love their work and the change they are creating. You can donate HERE.
The Movement for Black Lives is dedicated to changing policies and ending violence against innocent black lives. Their support embraces those wrongfully incarcerated to the LGBTQ community. They work on a local as well as national level engaging in political policy reform. This is critical for change and they need our support. You can donate HERE.
Children are the future. The Black Youth Project works in supporting and educating our youth. They provide mentorship and encouragement giving black youth a voice in the community. I am committed to supporting children and the Black Youth Project. You can donate HERE.
The primary focus for The Loveland Foundation is supporting women and young girls with affordable therapy. The Loveland Foundation was established in 2018 by Rachel Cargle. After a successful fundraiser on social media she expanded her mission and created the foundation. This is an amazing avenue for black women and girls to receive much needed therapy for guidance and healing. You can donate HERE.
Let’s all vow to listen, to educate ourselves and to speak out against racial injustice. Let’s back it up with action by supporting policy reform and changes within our own communities. We are one Human family and every family member deserves equal rights and opportunities. Let us not forget the names of those who have died unjustly:
- GEORGE FLOYD
- BOTHAM JEAN
- ERIC GARNER
- TRAYVON MARTIN
- ALTON STERLING
- TAMIR RICE
- MICHAEL BROWN
- BREONNA TAYLOR
- PHILANDO CASTILE
Peace & Love to all!
